This profound and visually arresting kilim triptych from the Malouf Collection presents the word “Hakim”—meaning “The Wise One”—as a narrative in three acts
This intentional dualism in the first panel represents the foundational moment of wise thought: the weighing of paths, the balance of intuition and reason, and the reflective pause that precedes all decisive action.
Central to the composition is a panel where the calligraphy of "Hakim" is masterfully stretched in a distorted typography design as a visual metaphor for the passage of time and the patience inherent in true wisdom. asking the viewer to slow their gaze, to move with the piece from top to bottom, experiencing the weight and deliberation of a wise decision as it forms, deepens, and finally roots itself in conviction.
The last panel with sails billowing in unified direction, symbolizes a wise decision set into motion. This powerful metaphor illustrates that true wisdom is not merely contemplation, but the courage to launch.
